A very cute video: Leon Christian

This, one of the most watched videos on Youtube, shows the meeting of a lion and his owners. The story goes back to the 60s, and it set within British culture. A couple of friends tries to adopt a lion as their mascot and raise him in a city environment for as long as they can. The life conditions for the lion were not the best, besides there was always the risk of the lion acting violently towards another human being, as he is a wild animal. Considering this, his owners opted to move it to a place in which he could have a better life, an African reserve, where he would be able to live on his natural habitat and also relate to animals of his and other species. The video is very moving, as it demonstrates the link that the feline has created with his owners, something that casts doubts in many of the theories that state that animal are not capable of creating lasting affective bonds. It is a cute video to watch over and over again!

Environment

In recent times we have been able to perceive a greater “awareness” about environmental issues. Global warming has more and more become a topic of discussion in the past years, not only by experts on the subject, but by society in general. People have started generating changes in their lifestyles, trying to take care of their surroundings and the planet's resources. Personally, it has been some time since we started a recycling system at home. We separate garbage in different recipients, some of them for plastic waste, others for glass, cardboard, etc. We also choose to buy products that come in organic packaging, leaving as a last resort those who come in plastic. Another alternative we take is buying products in glass containers, as these can be easily reused.

Another way to contribute to the environment has been giving a greater use to the bicycle. I try to make as many trips as possible daily in my bicycle, thus not only preventing the air pollution that a car makes, but also giving greater importance to my physical condition and times and rhythm of displacement through the city. It is very important to make even the most minimal of changes, as they end up affecting our environment and creating a change for good. 

A Darwinin theory?

Denis Dutton is a philosopher and writes for the “Arts & Letters Daily” magazine. He presents the problem of the “experiencing beauty”. From his perspective, what is considering beautiful will have different appreciations depending on the culture in which it is appreciated, as will do the numerous objects, people or things that can be catalogued within this category (a movie, a baby, a painting, etc.)

The theory of beauty does not come, as one may have expected from a formulation of an expert in art or a critic, but from the Charles Darwin himself, who proposed culture as a determinant of aesthetic taste. The aesthetic experience belongs to the evolved human psychology.

This video is a good source for investigation on the beginning of aesthetic practices, as well as a good precedent for the coming philosophers and critics who researched this practice. Other, more contemporary authors that deal with this subject are Kant, Hegel, Danto, who focused mainly on artistic practices and their development.

The last exhibition I went to.

Very recently, at the beginning of the week, the inauguration of Cristián Rodríguez's exposition at the Facultad de Artes de la Universidad de Chile (Las Encinas campus) took place. This exposition is set within the frame of the cycle “Tesis 11”, which corresponds to a circuit of shows set in the Egenau room of our Faculty by all the artists which graduated during the current year. The main characteristic of this shows is that they are both the showcase and culmination of the creative proyect that allows them to obtain their bachelor's degree in Arts.

This time it was Rodríguez's turn, with his work “Obra en construcción”. The objective of his work is to set in scene the processing condition of every work currently under construction and suspend through it the function of each one of the work tools that compose every scene. In aesthetic terms, Rodriguez's work seeks to retrieve the objective nature of objects, by using the "play dough" technique, a process which transforms the surface of objects by distancing from its referent only material terms. In this way cement bags, security helmets and mallets, amongst others, lay in exhibition at the Juan Egenau room.

The exposition open on Monady January the 30th and will end this Friday February the 3rd.

The Tate Britain art gallery is holding a very interesting exposition on the migration art of the British culture. According to the experts, British art is formed almost entirely by currents which come from neighbor countries, which have contributed to the constitution of various artistic topics such as its landscape, marine art, religious art, fowl and animal portraits, etc.

The typical landscape in Constable's depictions do not refer to the British outdoor, but to the Netherlands' landscape. The development of the show centers around the 500 years of British art and the argument that during its process it has been influenced by this fact, directly linked to the political conflicts in Europe. Most of the migrations towards the United Kingdom are related with portions of the population in France, Netherlands and England, which sought in different regions of Britain a place to establish themselves fleeing some war or conflict. The show is composed of various paintings that deal with the subject of immigration not only through landscapes, but through its typical characters.

Which country would you like to go to?

Hello everyone! Today I go to speak about "the travels", a country I would like to visit. I love travel and is very hard select only one country for to go. I will like to go to places lot, I will like to go to Asia, Europe, Africa, etc I like to know new people, to know new custom, new places, learn to the people. For this when I travel always I relate with the people, I share my experiences wiht the other, my life style,  my custom, and I talk about my country and your people.

I will like to follow visiting Latin American; I love this part the continent, because the people continue with your customs, with your rites. Also the people is different, they are nice and worried for your nature. But also, I will like go to Italian or Spain, because I in these places I can study Restoration.

In general, I will like travel for all world, learn in all place, thing new, differents, know person, and talk different  languajes. Also I will like can live in another country, I will like can learn and share new custom.

THE TATTOOS

Hello everyone! for to begin this year I go to talk about TATTOOS. The Tatoos have a long history, your history go back to the prehistory, when the tribes were did tatoos as a forms the rite. But this is past, today in the society, the tattoos are a style forms, mainly for the young persons. 

For some people, the tattoos are delinquency symbol, lazy people and unemployed,  but this is a myth. I have lot friends with tatoos and they are good people, hard-working.

Today The tattoos are a style forms and they don´t represent a  person type or a social class.  I don´t have any tatoos in my body, because I don´t dare. I like the tattoos, and sometimes I would like have one, but I think to the future and I repent.

The colors and the forms are beautiful, and with a nice body the tattoos see very nice, but for me this not enough. Mark the body forever, because this is the grace the tatoos, I don´t can do. I prefer have my body clean, because for making only one tattoos, I need have complete safety.

Hello everyone, today I will talk about a new "web page". In my English class, I visited a website on "English Learning" for the BBC.  The website is very interesting because not only can learn, also read the news, we can be informed of all the world.

On the site you can visit different topic as, vocabulary, pronunciation, the teacher, ask about English, and more. It is a place to learn, but with the same responsibility and seriousness that information and news websites.

After read the news, we can revise the vocabulary, the most important vocabulary of the news, with you meaning and also its synonymous. It´s a complete website.

The news also is accompanied of a video, that of different form, more realist explaining the news. In general this website, is a good form to practice english, is complete and modern, more funny.

COMEBACK TO CLASS

Hello everyone!, welcome again to my blog. I had forgot this blog, website. Has passed much time since the last time I visited this blog, since that last time that I wrote here.

Today I go to speak about this strange and different school years, that don't only affect at Universidad de Chile, also other universities and school the country. This semester was and been very strange, all began fast and disorganized, the courses are not the better,and does not have much offer to courses. Some teacher does not did your courses, because time was very short for give all topics. We had only 3 months the class, and one normal

semester have six month to class. The quality is not the better, but don´t have another possibility.

The classes  will finish in February, when most universities are the vacations. Going to the university in this time is awful, in this time do much heat, I feel heat all day and I can´t work  with this heat, but all have the consequence in the life and in this case was have class in summer.

THE BLOG

Welcome again. This is the last post, the situation is uncertain about the class. In this occasion I speak about my BLOG and my experience about him. Is the Blog a good method to learn?, it is more easy or hard? (that a class normal),  we It enjoy?. Lots questions emerge about this topic.

Really, I had lots doubt and fear about the blog, first because I not was sure about my ability in the english, and second because my friends spoke bad about it. I have another opinion, very different.

The first classes was hard, I was took several classes for write good. But I improved, and now I feel with more ability and confident for write. I like the blog, I find a program amusing and interactive for learn a different form and not a typical class.

Some advantages this method (for me) are the practice of the writting,  to way real, commenting and talking  with your friends, about topics common and nearby. The blog we permit learn of form different more common for us.

The disadvantages are: the difficulty and knowledge that the blog require. Write mean have a english advanced and generally this is not always possible, the different knowledges between the students is not  same, , generating differentiate between them. Also writting in the blog require of time and perseverance, we can't delay the blog, and always we have that send and do the post.

TRAVEL

Welcome everybody again to my blog. We had a week very hectic, with marches and protest. Our  university is on strike, we have two week in strike, in this situation all student (majority)  think about  your vacations. Any moment can be a good moment to rest, for do something different to routine. Going to beach for two days, going out with friends or do nothing.

For me vacations are a grand moment  in the year, and are most even, when I can to travel  to other country. I love travel, I love to share with other culture, with other people, I love know other places, new places.

I had the chance going to other countrys, going to other places of world, I had chance share with people de other countrys and I do better friends.

I had chance going to Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Colombia, etc.. always in American, I love my continent, I love the people and their custom. When  I travel, always I try share with the people place, know their way of life and their custom. 

But, for me that I'm student, travels are don't nothing easy. Always I have that work for to collect money and this I do at beginning of the years, in march month. Saving money for the trip, involve much sacrifice, I have to saving in everything, in the lunch, in the clothes, in the bus, etc... In general I don't spend in nothing. But the sacrifice be worth, a travel always is an experience, always we gain experience, we learn of the life with other people.

"Marches and Protests"

Welcome again to my blog, today a go to speak about topic “marches and protests”. The people together every day in different places of world is manifested, through different forms such as marches, internet, hunger strikes, etc.... The technology is very important for this, because it facilitates communication and planning big events. Only one the most important means of communication is the facebook, through it millions of people are organized, come together in places and at specific times. Another form of communication is through Twitter, the people write your impressions and comments, they write about that they dislike and that they like. But also, there are classic forms such as: posters, banners, graffiti, etc... All forms are valid, provided they respect to the other, for me the violence do not never be the forms for manifest.

In my country, the people last days, have taken to the streets, for different reasons such as: education, nature, and principal and most important reason for be listen for the authority. People feel abandoned and do not heard by the government. The “marches and protests” are a way to show discontent, but also the joy of a people, as when we win in the football.

The most important marches these days is Patagonia sin represas , this march summon millions of citizens, that together they fight for save the Patagonia and her wealth natural. Another very typical manifestation of all years have relation with students. Every years in this dates all students of public education, march through the streets, demanding a education fair.

MASTERPIECE

Hello everyone! Today I go to speak about my favourite masterpiece.  I really think I don’t have only one favourite masterpiece, but I will choose one.  I choose a masterpiece of David Ligare, call: “Kimolos (Thrown Drapery)”.

David Ligare was born in 1945, in the city of Illinois, EEUU. His first formal arts studies were from in Art Center College of Design, in the city of Los Angeles. His paintings it’s in the galleries of Museum Modern Arts, New York, Museum of Fine Arts San Francisco, Florence and Museum of Madrid.

He is a realist contemporany painter and his work is focused in paintings of still life, landscapes and ordinary objects. This artist, believe in the power of the representation (in the way of perceptual analysis) because can make us see clearly and rationally. Some of his works represents mythological scenes and characters: Penelope, Aquiles. One of his masterpieces in this subject (in my opinion) is his Hercules protecting balance between Pleasure and Virtue (1993). This painting is an example of the classic treatment of colors and forms. We can see it in the bodies of the men, the posses, the clothes, the extra- elements (decorative) and in the composition in general.

Another element used by this artist is the still – life paintings. Historically, this type of paintings was less valuates because, still life seemed frivolous and served no useful purpose. But, nineteenth century, when painters began to assert the primacy of art for art’s sake, did still life begin to assume a higher status. Ligare’s use this and pretend to do “art for art” while the purpose is to educate: the paintings at once recall lessons from the past, and extract a universal order from the frenzy of modern life. “Kimolos (Thrown Drapery)” is only one masterpieces of de artist.  It paint was created in the years 2009-2010.



MY FAVOURITE PHOTOGRAPHY.

Hello! Today I speak about my favourite photography.  For this occasion I selection a picture about the Patagonia Chilean.  This because in my country today have a problem respect this topic.

I selected this picture for several reasons, but the most important reason for me is the amazing of place. The Patogonia is a place very extreme of country, in the south of Chilean, with a flora and fauna incredible, in place the animals lives together, in the wild, and de flora born of unique form. Also the intensity of de colors are magnificent, greens are strong and powerful blues.

The places more well-known are: Torres del Paine, Punta Arenas and National Park Torres del Paine. In the zone there much activity tourists, walks National Parks, trekking, boating, and visits for the incredible glaciers. It’s a beautiful rides for the family or friends. The only problem is that it’s very expensive for Chileans.

Because of its natural value the Patagonia is a much desired place for businessman. They expect do in the place a big inversion, in related with the energy industry. This will cause a catastrophe in this zone and other places for country. A most problem is the melting glaciers; it’s the largest water source country and the world.

Is very important as country to protect our places and nature. Patagonia is only one of the places wonderful that our country has and we must also protect all the natural places that Chilean has, from north to south.

MY FAVOURITE ARTIST

Hi everyone, today I go to speak about my favourite artist.  That situation is very complicate for me, because I do not have only one favourite artist, better I go to speak about the “Impressions” and it’s more important artists.

The Impressions is a “current” artistic French of century XIX, and your principal characteristic is the light. Is considered as the starting point at contemporary arts, finishing with the classic arts, and also with academy arts.  The impressionist artists chose the outdoor painting, they work in the nature, with daily thematic, capturing the natural light.

Principal impressionist artists (for me) are: Édouard Manet, Claude Monet, Auguste Renoir, Camille Pissarro, Mary Cassatt, etc. But the best for me is Claude Monet, your pictures has very colour, and  your works with light are very amazing, he to be able to create in the works only using light, colors and forms, and he capture with naturally the objects. The most important pictures it’s: Nenúfares, Impression atardecer, The ampoules and The cathedral de Rouen. Nenúfares is a pictures series very famous, its made with oil and big brushstrokes. It’s colours are strong a typical impressionist characteristic.

MY FAVOURITE PIECE OF TECHNOLOGY

In my life, every day I use piece of technology, they are very important for my style of life. Some pieces technology more important for my:  the computer, cell,  But I think that more important piece of technology for me is the computer.

The computer is essential for me, because I use for the university, I to make my works and my homeworks, with him I can organize my timetable for the tests, but also I use the computer for to distract, to entertain, at least the computer it takes your mind off your worries, to relax, pass the time.  Sometimes I’m so absent minded with the computer, and the work (the most important) to delay.

With my computer I can speak with my friends, not only with my friends of the university, or my country, but also with my friends of other place the world, for example with friends of USA, Germany, Italian, etc. Also with him I can listen the music, look photographs, buy ticket show (cinema, dance, music, etc), and reservation to have supper.

The computer is a piece technology very useful for the life, to make easy the activities of day.

He is the most important mexican artist of the musical industry. He is very successful in Latin America, Europe, Asia and Oceania. The public loves and admires hum not only for this mucis, the follow him also for his social work.

Marco Antonio Solis is a Mexican romantic music singer. His musical career began when he was twelve. His first job was in the band “Los Bukis”, but since the nineties, he started his solo career, having much success in the U.S. and Mexico.

He has recorded 24 musical albums throughout your career. In 2003 he won the Latin Grammy in the category of best song of the year.

Paul Klee was born in 1879 in the city of Münchenbuchsee, Switzerland. He studied at the Academy of Bellas Arts in the city of Munich; he was an important painter and art theorist German, he is a faithful representative of contemporary art.

He combined in his works abstract constructivist style with bright colors, he believed that art was a creative act equivalent to nature “Art doses not reproduce the visible, but not makes visible”
